Percy Jackson (aka Persus) is a demigod, who’s father is Poseidon. This series tracks his adventures, as the Gods battle each other and the world. The first adventure follows as Percy tries to save the world. Apparently, there is a prophecy having to do with the first demigod born of one of the “Big 3” (Zeus, Poseidon and Hades). With his friends, Annabeth and Grover, and the help of his mentor (a Centaur) Chiron, he follows these adventures and quests to prevent a war among the Gods.

UPDATE: I decided to lump the Heroes of Olympus together with Percy Jackson. Having just finished ready the first installment in the series, I am not convinced they really are 2 separate series. I don’t care what the author says! The characters and the stories are way to intertwined for me. So… it’s my blog, I’ll do what I want to!
